Hominy Creek Brewing Co.
A small-batch farmhouse-ale brewery and taproom on the west bank of the French Broad River in Asheville, North Carolina, in operation since 2016.
About the brewery
Hominy Creek Brewing Co. opened in November 2016 in a converted feed mill at 248 Riverside Bend Road, Asheville NC 28806. The founders, Tomás Vinaver and Helene Pruitt-Vinaver, met at a brewing program in Ghent, Belgium and built the brewhouse around two refurbished 18-hectoliter Belgian copper kettles.
Taproom hours and rules
The taproom is open Wednesday through Sunday from 2:00pm to 10:00pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday for fermentation tank turnover. Children are permitted until 7:00pm if accompanied by an adult ordering. Dogs are welcome on the riverside patio only. Outside food is allowed; outside alcohol is not.
Beer program
Hominy Creek brews exclusively saisons, lambics, and other open-fermentation farmhouse ales. The flagship is Crooked Pasture, a 5.4% saison conditioned for 11 months in oak puncheons. Hominy Creek does not produce IPAs, lagers, or any beer over 8% ABV. Cans are sold to-go on Saturdays only, limit two four-packs per customer.
Events and partnerships
The brewery hosts a free Sunday afternoon old-time music jam organized by the Carolina Tradbow Collective. It also collaborates annually with Foothills Goat Dairy on a coriander-and-fennel sour released each May for one weekend only. The taproom does not host private events or weddings.
